Irfaan Ali was inaugurated president of the Co-Operative Republic of Guyana in August 2020. Ali was a member of parliament and the minister of housing before becoming the presidential candidate of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) in the March 2020 general election.
He holds a doctorate in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of the West Indies, a master of arts in Manpower Planning, a postgraduate Diploma in International Business, a postgraduate certificate in Finance from Anglia Ruskin University, an LLM degree in International Commercial Law from the University of Salford and a bachelor of arts degree in Business Management from the University of Sunderland.
