Guyana is the fastest growing economy in the world, a significant player in the global energy market, and a regional leader in areas such as food security and addressing climate change. This global prominence recently culminated in Guyana’s election as a new non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, a role it will assume for a two-year term starting in January 2024.
The country’s newfound resource wealth presents economic opportunities and potential energy supply stability, aligning with US interests in diversifying energy sources and promoting security in the region especially since Guyana will hold the Chairmanship of CARICOM in 2024.
President Ali will be at the forefront of a conversation on US-Guyana bilateral relations, providing a unique opportunity to gain deep insights into the dynamic landscape of Guyana and its visionary approach to harnessing oil and gas revenue for responsible, sustainable, and inclusive long-term development.
The Inter-American Dialogue is pleased to host President Dr. Irfaan Ali to discuss his vision for the future of the US-Guyana relationship.
