Hedley Lawrence-Apfelbaum joined the Inter-American Dialogue as an intern in the Asia and Latin America Program in June of 2024. He is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree with a double major in political science and economics at Amherst College, expecting to graduate in 2026. At Amherst, he serves as vice president of the Association of Amherst Students, the college’s student government.

Lawrence-Apfelbaum is interested in China’s international order building and role in the global economy. He previously interned in both houses of Congress and at the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) in the Commerce Department, researching AI policy. Lawrence-Apfelbaum is fluent in English, Spanish, and French and hopes to work in law and foreign policy.
