David Gumbs serves as the director of Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI)’s Islands Energy Program, advising governments, utilities, and the private sector on renewable energy strategies to enhance cost-efficiency and resilience. Before joining RMI, he founded Daavi Business Solutions, offering energy solutions across the US, Africa, and the Caribbean. As CEO of the Anguilla Electricity Company, Ltd. (Anglec), he spearheaded their renewable energy initiatives, elevating Anglec to one of the region’s highest penetration levels.
Gumbs is a frequent speaker at regional forums, earning awards such as the Caribbean Renewable Energy Forum’s Island Resiliency Action Challenge and the iChange Nations Regional Statesman Award. He holds a master’s degree in accounting from the University of Hartford, a bachelor’s degree in economics and Africana studies from Connecticut College, and is a certified public accountant (CPA).
