César Montúfar

César Montúfar is an Ecuadoran academic and politician. He is a professor at Simón Bolívar Andean University in Quito, where he previously directed the Global and Social Studies program. Montúfar also leads the political party Movimiento Concertación, under which he ran for president in 2021. From 2009 to 2013, he served in the National Assembly, representing the province of Pichincha. After the beginning of his political career in the late nineties, Montúfar served as the executive director of Corporación Participación Ciudadana, the first domestic organization involved in the monitoring of Ecuador’s election processes. He worked there from the organization’s inception in 2002 until 2005. Montúfar received his undergraduate degree in sociology from the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador, and he earned his PhD and Master’s degrees in political science at the New School.

Montúfar was an event speaker at the Dialogue.
