Alberto Fernández has been president of Argentina since December 10, 2019. He previously held the positions of director of Summaries/Proceedings and deputy director general of Legal Affairs of the Ministry of Economy during the presidency of Raúl Alfonsín. He was superintendent of Insurance from 1989 to 1995, and was founder and first executive vice president of Grupo BAPRO from 1995 to 2000.
In August 2000, he was elected legislator for the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. Between 2003 and 2008, he served as Minister Cabinet chief.
Fernández is a lawyer with a degree from the School of Law at Universidad de Buenos Aires.
