Over the past year, Brazil has seen enormous political and economic changes, culminating in the suspension of President Dilma Rousseff from office on May 12 pending impeachment charges. The ongoing economic crisis and the new government of interim President Michel Temer have presented new challenges and opportunities for the relationship with the United States. The Dialogue is pleased to welcome Ambassador Liliana Ayalde to discuss the current state of US-Brazil cooperation, with additional remarks offered by Ricardo Zuniga, Consul General in São Paulo.

Ambassador Liliana Ayalde has been Ambassador to Brazil since 2013 and has over 30 years of diplomatic experience, previously serving as Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Western Hemisphere and US Ambassador to Paraguay. Consul General Ricardo Zuniga is a career Foreign Service Officer who previously served as a Special Assistant to President Obama and Senior Director for Western Hemisphere Affairs on the National Security Council.
