Event Summary This event has passed.

School leaders are critical to the success of Latin America’s education systems. Principals and other administrators are responsible for ensuring teachers receive the support they need to be effective educators and establishing the expectations and procedures to promote high achievement. Investing in leadership skills is one of the best ways school systems can improve results.

In Argentina, the Varkey Foundation’s Program on Leadership and Innovation in Education (PLIE) offers school principals a six-week training program designed to develop their capacity to ensure teaching quality, foster creativity and innovation, and promote continuous improvement. Developed in conjunction with five provincial ministries of education, the program has reached over 2,000 school leaders.

The Inter-American Dialogue is pleased to host a panel discussion on the achievements and challenges of the program and the lessons it can offer other education systems.
