On December 13, 2021, the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar of Quito named Michael Shifter as Honorary Professor at the inauguration ceremony of the international conference titled "América Latina en el contexto mundial pos Covid". Shifter received this prestigious designation in recognition of his dedication to promoting open and honest dialogue across the Americas and his commitment to strengthening inter-American relations.
