On May 24, 2024, the Inter-American Dialogue released the report “Women, Remittances, and Financial Inclusion in Guatemala.” The report, produced by Manuel Orozco, director of the Migration, Remittances, and Development program, provides a financial characterization of women in Guatemala, explores barriers to financial inclusion, and outlines a path toward greater financial independence.
On February 27, 2024, Manuel Orozco, director of the Migration, Remittances, and Development program at the Inter-American Dialogue, presented, “Migración, Remesas y Desarrollo en Guatemala Tendencias y Recomendaciones” (or “Migration, Remittances, and Development in Guatemala – Trends and Recommendations”) to students at the Centro Universitario de San Marcos (CUSAM).
On February 28, 2024, the Inter-American Dialogue released the report “Remittances and Development in Honduras – Bridging Opportunities.” The report, produced by Manuel Orozco, director of the Migration, Remittances, and Development program analyzes migration patterns, characterizes remittance recipients, and reports on key financial inclusion metrics in the country. The report concludes with a pathway that outlines a strategy for leveraging remittances for development in the country.
On October 25, 2022, Think Tank Haiti (TTH) – a joint collaboration between Université Quisqueya and the Inter-American Dialogue – hosted a webinar titled “Haiti’s Frustration with International Aid.” During the event, prominent Haiti scholar and sociologist, Michèle Oriol, discussed her recent paper “International Aid or Foreign Policy? Lessons Learned since 1990” and her findings.
On July 13, 2022, Think Tank Haiti, a collaborative initiative between the Inter-American Dialogue and the Quisqueya University in Haiti hosted a webinar on the outcomes of international aid in Haiti. The panel featured a diverse group of experts, discussing why aid may have failed in Haiti as well as what Haiti and donor countries can do to mitigate future poor performance.
