Renata Segura is the deputy program director for Latin America and Caribbean at the International Crisis Group (ICG). As such, Segura supports the program director with the production of reports and other outputs, as well as advocacy and outreach. She works closely with analysts in the design, research and production of reports.

Colombian by birth, Segura has been based in New York for more than 20 years. She started her career as a reporter on Colombian TV and a nationally-distributed magazine, before working at the Jesuit-led NGO CINEP in Bogotá. She got her Ph.D. in political science from the New School for Social Research in New York in 2007. Between 2002 and 2019, Segura worked at the Conflict Prevention and Peace Forum, a program of the Social Science Research Council. Her most recent position there was associate director of the Conflict Prevention and Peace Forum. In this capacity she led over a hundred research projects and workshops examining challenges to democratic governance and peace in Latin America and the Caribbean, on topics including drug policy, climate change, food resilience and gender. She has published material on constitutionalism, conflict prevention and resolution, drug policy, mining and diaspora politics, among other issues.
