Fernanda Martins

Fernanda Martins is an anthropologist and research director at InternetLab, an interdisciplinary research center in São Paulo focused on the intersection of internet and law. 

Throughout her career, Martins has received prestigious scholarships, including a research initiation grant from the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) and a grant from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) during her master’s studies. She has worked as a consultant for organizations like Projeto Guri, Plan International, and UNICEF.

With a strong background in education, Martins has taught programs for children, adolescents, and adults, addressing issues of race, ethnicity, and gender inequalities. She applies an intersectional approach in her work and authored the book A filha da Dona Lecy, exploring the life of Leci Brandão.

Her areas of interest include gender studies, racial and ethnic relations, sexuality, intersectionality, content moderation on digital platforms, internet policies, education, emerging digital technologies, youth, and social impacts. At InternetLab, she leads research projects, represents the institution, and develops innovative methodologies to ensure interdisciplinary and impactful programmatic efforts.

Martins holds a PhD in social sciences from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), a master’s degree in social anthropology, and a bachelor’s degree in social sciences from the University of São Paulo. She also has training in pedagogy from Sumaré College.

Martins was an event speaker at the Dialogue.
