Event information

Central American countries have once again become the focus of global attention on many fronts. Violent activities from transnational crime networks, food security tied to climate change, around half a million people migrating to the United States annually since 2018, over US$40 billion in remittances mostly from the United States, more than US$40 billion in trade with the United States, as well as tense country political divisions are some of the issues shaping Central America. These dynamics also point to how the region has deepened its ties to the United States in more than one way.

Join us on Friday, June 16, from 9:15 AM to 10:30 AM EDT for a lively exchange about US diplomatic relations with Central America with the chiefs of the United States missions in the region. The conversation with six ambassadors will touch on their views of Central America from the ground. Also, what challenges in US policy have proved to be more difficult? In what way can cooperation with Central American governments be described?
