JOB DESCRIPTION:  

The Inter-American Dialogue is seeking a Program Associate to join the Office of the President team. Excellent writing skills are essential, as the Program Associate will be responsible for creating high-quality content, including substantive reports. The ideal candidate will have outstanding problem-solving skills as well as excellent analytical, organizational, and administrative experience. They will have the ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish. The candidate must have the capacity to work concurrently and efficiently on multiple projects in a fast-paced office environment. Experience in event planning is strongly preferred.

This is a hybrid position based in Washington, DC.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:  

  • Support programming related to substantive Dialogue Initiatives. Conduct research and analysis on key issues; write articles, reports, presentations, and blog posts on the subject; oversee the editing, translation, design, and publication of reports, memos, press releases, and other materials.
  • Manage the logistics of conferences, high-level events, and delegations, including drafting invitations, communicating regularly with high-level event participants, making travel and lodging arrangements, identifying and managing vendors, and coordinating day-of-execution.
  • Create and monitor program budgets and provide financial reports to funders as needed.
  • Prepare communications related to events and conferences such as background research, rapporteurs’ report, social media posts, and website pages.
  • Oversee the selection and management of Office of the President interns.
  • Lead additional Special Projects from the Office of the President and provide administrative and logistical support on other institutional projects as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • 3-5 years of work experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, History, Latin American Studies, or related field, with strong academic credentials. Master’s degree in these areas is preferable.
  • Outstanding writing and editing skills. Strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to balance long-term projects with quick turnaround deliverables.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated, creative, and ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English is required, Portuguese is a plus.
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and social media platforms. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign) as well as customer relationship management (CRM) software (Raiser’s Edge) a plus.

Compensation: Salary US$48,000-52,000 commensurate with experience. Competitive benefits package.
