Civil society groups recently launched a new public campaign in Guatemala called Juntos por la Educación (United for Education) in an effort to drastically raise education quality by the year 2021.
Citing low test scores and worrisome completion rates, the organization calls on all sectors and individuals in society to work together to achieve three main goals:
- Schools fulfill 180 effective days of class per year.
- Teachers are well-trained and well-prepared.
- Students learn.
