Washington, DC — The Inter-American Dialogue, the preeminent think tank dedicated to Western Hemisphere affairs, is proud to announce the launch of its Brazil Program, the only country-specific initiative in Washington focused exclusively on Brazil. The program will serve as the premier platform for independent research, dialogue, and policy engagement on Brazil’s political, economic, and social landscape, as well as its evolving relationship with the United States. The program will be led by Bruna Santos, renowned expert on Brazil and former director of the Brazil Institute at the Wilson Center, widely recognized for advancing bilateral understanding and fostering stronger U.S.–Brazil relations.
“With Bruna’s exceptional leadership and deep expertise, we are thrilled to launch the Dialogue’s Brazil Program,” said Rebecca Bill Chavez, president & CEO of the Inter-American Dialogue. “This marks a major milestone that reflects Brazil’s critical role in regional and global affairs and reaffirms our commitment to strengthening the Dialogue’s engagement with this vital country.”
The Brazil Program brings together leaders from government, business, academia, and civil society to tackle shared challenges and opportunities. Its four strategic pillars, U.S.-Brazil relations, democratic governance, a sustainable and abundant future, and emerging technologies, position the Dialogue at the forefront of convening diverse stakeholders to drive impactful solutions.
“I am honored to join the Dialogue to lead the Brazil Program,” said Santos, director of the Brazil Program. “This is a time of profound transformation in Brazil and across the region, and with its hemispheric perspective, the Dialogue is uniquely positioned to inform, convene, and inspire action. I look forward to expanding the Brazil Program’s reach and building on its impact to promote a stronger, more collaborative U.S.-Brazil relationship.”
Through original research, high-level convenings, and cross-sector collaboration, the Brazil Program will advance knowledge, strengthen networks, and generate actionable policy recommendations to support a more democratic, prosperous, and sustainable Brazil, while deepening ties among Brazil, the United States, and the broader region.
