WASHINGTON, DC — The Inter-American Dialogue announces the appointment of Alma Caballero and Jasper Jung as Co-Chairs of its Mexico Program Advisory Council, strengthening the Program’s leadership at a pivotal moment for U.S.-Mexico relations. The Dialogue is the only think tank in Washington, DC with a dedicated program focused exclusively on the U.S.-Mexico bilateral relationship, serving as a trusted, independent platform for research, dialogue, and cooperation on critical issues.
“Together, Alma and Jasper bring complementary strengths in policy, business, and diplomacy that will significantly enhance the Mexico Program’s ability to convene leaders, generate policy-relevant analysis, and promote constructive U.S.-Mexico engagement within a broader North American framework,” said Lila Abed, Director of the Mexico Program.
The Mexico Program’s Advisory Council is composed of distinguished leaders from the public and private sectors on both sides of the border, who contribute their expertise to guide the Program’s strategic direction and programming. Advisory Council members support Program efforts to provide independent, nonpartisan analysis and convene high-level dialogue on strategic challenges facing North America, including trade and competitiveness, security and rule of law, migration, energy, and democratic governance.
Alma Caballero is Managing Director at McLarty Associates and a member of the firm’s Northern Latin America practice, where she leads the Mexico team. She advises clients on strategic planning, government relations, and transaction management across Latin America, particularly in Mexico and Central America. Prior to joining McLarty Associates, Caballero served as Latin American policy advisor at Covington & Burling LLP, where she provided strategic counsel and risk assessment to international clients with operations in Latin America and to Latin American companies expanding globally.
Jasper Jung is Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives for Global Public Policy at General Motors, where he leads policy campaign strategies supporting the company’s long-term growth and resilience. His work spans critical mineral and rare earth supply chains, manufacturing and supply chain resilience, trade, geopolitics, and economic and national security—issues that sit at the heart of North American integration and U.S.-Mexico cooperation. Jung is also a member of the Dialogue’s President’s Leadership Council, a select group of influential private sector and thought leaders from across the Western Hemisphere that support the Inter-American Dialogue’s mission and help shape the organization’s priorities and agenda.
