Venezuela has great potential to boost the use of clean energy. It seeks to increase electricity generation from natural gas and renewable energies to meet growing electricity demand and cope with droughts that deplete reservoirs for hydropower. Lower oil prices mean that it will be more difficult for the government to invest in new renewable energy generation infrastructure as lower oil prices mean less revenues for the government.
