CBS News Correspondent Lilia Luciano to be Leader of Ceremony at the IX Annual Leadership for the Americas Awards Gala

Washington, DCLilia Luciano, national correspondent and anchor for CBS News, will be leader of ceremony at the Inter-American Dialogue’s IX Annual Leadership for the Americas Awards Gala. The gala is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington, DC. 

Lilia Luciano, journalist, filmmaker, and podcaster is currently based in New York. She has spent over a decade covering immigration and drug policy at the US-Mexico Border for various networks and platforms, as well as climate catastrophes from the frontlines. She has led major international breaking news stories for CBS News, including coverage of the Israel-Hamas conflict from Israel, the assassination of presidential candidate Fernando Villavicencio in Quito, Ecuador, and was the only US network correspondent on the ground in Venezuela covering the 2024 election and the violent protests that followed. She is also the director and producer of the HBO documentary film Wars of Others, which explores the consequences of the war on drugs in Colombia. 

Outside of her journalism work Luciano sits on the Emeritus Advisory Board of the United Nations Foundation’s Girl Up campaign to promote access to quality education and the well-being of girls worldwide. Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Luciano is fluent in Spanish, English, and Portuguese. She graduated from the University of Miami with degrees in Economics and Broadcast Journalism.
