Lessons for teacher evaluation in Mexico

In her most recent article in Educación a Debate, Lucrecia Santibañez writes about teacher evaluations in Mexico, a very relevant topic in the country’s current discussions on educational reform.

Santibañez talks about lessons learned in the process of evaluation seen in practice in the United States, holding that these could serve to inform Mexico’s strategy towards improvement. She concludes that although it is not possible yet to evaluate teachers in Mexico using the most advanced measures, it is possible to eventually implement them and improve the evaluation system using studies undertaken in Mexico and elsewhere as a starting point.
