We are pleased to share with you the fifth and sixth issues of the newsletter of PREAL’s Working Group on Education Standards and Assessment, the Observatorio de Políticas Regionales de Evaluación Educativa.
Both issues discuss, among other topics, the results of the recent international student achievement test: the Second Regional, Comparative, and Explanatory Study (SERCE), produced by UNESCO. They provide a general overview of the format and structure of the first SERCE report; a discussion of Cuba’s education system (in light the country’s remarkably high test scores); and an article on the kind of debate that Latin America should have about the SERCE results.
