Extracurricular Education

Our afterschool education initiatives aim at strengthening soft skills of young students and women in particular. Beginning in April 2023, the program provides afterschool training to 849 students. The students are of an important age where decisions about their future involve calculations between entering the labor force in the community, figuring out what to do, and migrating. The diploma consists of giving students 24 effective hours of classes developing a total of 12 topics of interest.

INTENTION TO MIGRATE AMONG STUDENTS AND THEIR RELATIVES

In April 2023, students received a knowledge test on the subject matter to serve as a baseline. Three months later, after completing several hours in the subject matter, they received the same test in order to identify academic achievement.¹ The results for six of the topics completed point to significant improvements among female students. On all subjects, the average grade increases, in some cases significantly, as in the case of knowledge of what to include in a CV. Similarly, the result on understanding the concept of ‘discourse’ was also significant. Moreover, observations and conversations with students and parents about the experience from afterschool was very positive.
