Saema Somalya is executive vice president (EVP) of Legal and Risk at Remitly, an online remittance service that offers international money transfers to over 150 countries. Prior to joining Remitly, Somalya served as senior vice president, deputy general counsel (corporate) and assistant secretary for Fifth Third Bancorp and Fifth Third Bank, N.A. from May 2016 to November 2020. She has also held the positions of senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary for Warren Resources, Inc, from February 2014 to January 2016. From April 2009 to January 2014, she served as senior legal director and corporate counsel to PepsiCo, Inc.. Somalya is also board chair of Muslim Advocates, a national civil rights organization that uses litigation, policy engagement, and communications strategies to promote justice and equity while protecting the diverse spectrum of Muslim communities from anti-Muslim discrimination in all of its forms.
Somalya holds a JD from Yale Law School and a BA in international relations and affairs from Yale University.
