Tanya S. Skilton is executive director of strategy, innovation, and customer care at General Motors’ Global Purchasing and Supply Chain (GPSC) division. She is responsible for GM’s purchasing and supply chain strategy and operations, including sustainability, resilience, supplier diversity, technology, and performance.
Her previous roles at GM include leading the sourcing of critical battery materials, founding the BrightDrop procurement and supply discipline, and launching GM’s first smart cities software platform, Future Road. She also partnered with Cruise Automation to develop viable sources of sensing and computing technologies to support Level 4 autonomous vehicle operations.
Before joining GM, Skilton spent over a decade with the Rio Tinto Group, where she laid the commercial foundations for implementing fully autonomous mining equipment.
Skilton holds dual bachelor’s degrees in economics and communications and a master’s degree in international business. Passionate about faith, history, languages, and lifelong learning, her global career has spanned her native India, the United States, France, China, Japan, Australia, and Singapore.
She serves on the boards of the Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council (MMSDC), the Asian Pacific American Chamber of Commerce (APACC), the Center for Advanced Procurement Studies (CAPS), and FiveTwo—a Christian organization equipping entrepreneurs to start new ventures—as well as the outreach and missions committee at her local church.
