Sylvia Escovar is strategic president of EPS Sanitas Comprehensive Health Group. She is the former president of Organización Terpel, having served the company for more than 15 years in different managerial positions. Before assuming this position, she was vice president of Corporate Group for 10 years, where she was responsible for both financial and strategic/commercial areas.
Previously, Escovar worked in the public sector, holding various positions including financial vice president of Grupo Bancolombia, main economist for the Colombian Resident Mission of the World Bank, and head of the External Credit Division in the National Planning Department. She was also head of the Economic Research Department of Banco de la República Cartagena, head of the National Public Policy Evaluation System in DNP, and associate researcher of FES Leadership Foundation. Escovar has also served as deputy secretary of public education for the Enrique Peñalosa administration, deputy secretary of finance of the second Antanas Mockus administration, and financial vice president of Fiducolombia.
She is the only woman to be included on the list of the 10 leaders with the best reputation in the Merco Colombia ranking, and was named as the best executive of the year by Portafolio Magazine in the year 2017. She was also awarded the National Order of Merit by the President of the Republic of Colombia based on her leadership of Terpel’s commitment to reconciliation and the post-conflict process, her service to the country, and her contribution to building sustainable peace.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia, with studies in Econometrics in La Sorbonne, Paris, France.
Escovar joined the Dialogue as a Member in 2020. She sits on the Dialogue’s Board of Directors.
