Ryan Hill

Ryan Hill is Director for International Government Affairs and Policy at Amgen, where he leads the company’s advocacy in Washington, DC across Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, and other international markets. Since joining Amgen in 2016, he has played a central role in shaping health policy engagement across Latin America, working with governments, multilateral institutions, and industry partners to expand access to innovation, strengthen health systems, and advance “health as an investment” approaches.

Ryan brings more than two decades of experience in Latin America, spanning both the healthcare and technology sectors. At Amgen, he focuses on cutting-edge health policy issues. Previously, he served as Director of Government Relations for Northern Latin America at BlackBerry, based in Mexico City, where he led regional government affairs strategy and advocacy. Earlier, at the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI), he led Latin America policy initiatives, advancing trade and regulatory priorities for leading global technology companies.

Throughout his career, Ryan has worked closely with leading regional organizations, including the Wilson Center’s Latin America Program, the Mexico Institute, the Brazil Institute, and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Mexico, where he has held advisory and board-level roles. He has regularly engaged senior policymakers across the region, including ministers, legislators, and heads of state.

Ryan holds an MBA from Georgetown University and bachelor’s degrees in Spanish and English Literature from the University of California, Irvine. He is fluent in Spanish and has lived and worked in the United States, Mexico, Ecuador, Spain, and Japan. He currently resides in Virginia with his wife, two sons, and his dog, Gizmo.
