Ricardo Sáenz de Tejada is a social anthropologist and political scientist. Sáenz de Tejada has developed his professional career combining his work as a consultant and director of social and political action projects with research and university teaching in Guatemala and Central America. He is a full professor at the School of History, Anthropology, and Archeology at the University of San Carlos and has produced research and publications on social and political inequalities, violence, social organization and mobilization, political and electoral processes, and recent history. Noteworthy publications include Democracias de posguerra en Centroamérica, Política, pobreza y desigualdad en Guatemala, El Salvador y Nicaragua (2018); Democracia y elecciones en Guatemala (1984-2011) (2015); Oliverio. Una biografía del secretario general de la Asociación de Estudiantes Universitarios 1978-1979 (Cuatro ediciones); Revolucionarios en tiempos de paz. Rompimientos y recomposiciones en las izquierdas de Guatemala y El Salvador; and Editorial de Ciencias Sociales (2005). Sáenz de Tejada is author of articles published in journals and books. He was co-producer of the documentary “Inequality and Conflict, beyond them and us” (2019). Currently, he heads Oxfam’s office in Guatemala.
