Ramiro Guerrero is the dean of the school of economics and finance at Universidad Icesi in Cali, Colombia. Guerrero has worked as a research associate at Fedesarrollo (a leading economic policy Think Tank) and as an economic editor at Semana.

Between 2004 and 2007, he served as Deputy Minister of Social Protection in Colombia, in charge of health system financing, information systems, and planning. In 2007, he joined the Harvard Initiative for Global Health as a research fellow, working on health metrics and health system performance evaluation. In 2010, he assumed the role of founding director of the Research Center for Social Protection and Health Economics (PROESA) at the Universidad Icesi in Colombia.

He holds a PhD in Global Health & Social Medicine from Kings College London and graduated as an economist from Universidad de los Andes (Colombia) in 1997. He has a master’s degree in Environmental Economics (University of Maryland at College Park) and Economic Policy (Université d’Auvergne, France).
