Mónica Aspe

Mexico | CEO, AT&T Mexico

With twenty years of experience in telecommunications, Mónica Aspe has held roles as a business leader, public official, and diplomat. Since 2020, she has served as CEO of AT&T Mexico, a $4 billion annual-revenue business operating under AT&T Inc., a global leader in telecommunications, media, and technology.

She has driven AT&T Mexico’s transformation. Under her leadership, AT&T Mexico has grown in subscribers, revenues, and profitability, became the first company to launch 5G in Mexico, and is now the largest telecommunications wholesaler in Latin America.

Aspe is among the pioneering female leaders in the global telecommunications arena. She is the first woman to lead AT&T Mexico and the highest-ranking Latina at AT&T Inc.

Prior to her appointment as CEO, she was vice president of external affairs and corporate communications at AT&T Mexico. Before joining AT&T, she represented Mexico as ambassador to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and as co-representative to the International Energy Agency (IEA).

She also served as undersecretary of communications at the Ministry of Communications and Transport (SCT), where she promoted the telecommunications reform of 2014. Additionally, she was general director of the National Chamber of the Radio and Television Industry (CIRT) and a consultant in the telecommunications, infrastructure, and aviation sectors.

In addition to her role at AT&T Mexico, Aspe is currently a board member of the public companies Banamex (financial services), Volaris (aviation), and Nemak (manufacturing). She also serves pro bono on the boards of COMEXUS-Fulbright for binational education, the American Chamber Mexico Chapter, and the IMSS Foundation, and participates in the International Women’s Forum (IWF).

Her leadership and influence have been recognized by Bloomberg’s 500 of Latin America, Mexico’s 300 Leaders, and Forbes and Expansión, which have named her among the most powerful women in Mexico.

She holds a bachelor’s degree from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) and a master’s degree from Columbia University. In every position she has held, Aspe is known for championing inclusive cultures and driving digital transformation. She resides in Mexico City with her family.

Aspe will be awarded the Digital Inclusion and Women’s Economic Empowerment Award at the 10th Leadership for the Americas Awards Gala in 2025.
