Mileydi Guilarte serves as deputy assistant administrator within USAID’s Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).

Prior to this role, Guilarte held several positions in the Obama-Biden Administration, including director at the National Security Council in the White House and at USAID as a senior policy advisor for the Administrator and as an international cooperation specialist. Most recently, before joining the Biden Harris Administration, Guilarte was the country representative for a US-based non-profit in El Salvador. Guilarte was also nominated by President Obama as the United States alternative executive director at the Inter-American Development Bank in 2014. With over 20 years of development experience, she has worked the World Bank, the United Nations, and the International Monetary Fund.

Guilarte was born in Cuba and grew up in Miami where she became the first college graduate in her family and has worked and lived overseas in Central America and Southeast Asia. She holds a master’s degree in international peace and conflict resolution from American University and a BA in journalism from the University of Florida.
