Michelle S. Giuda is chief executive officer of the Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue, a global organization dedicated to accelerating the innovation and adoption of trusted technology. As the leading authority in the emerging field of tech diplomacy, the Institute integrates technology expertise, Silicon Valley strategy, and foreign policy tools to build the Global Tech Trust Network—a coalition of governments, companies, and individuals united by shared trust principles and a mission to ensure technology advances freedom.

Previously, Giuda served as executive vice president of geopolitical strategy and risk at the global communications firm Weber Shandwick. From 2018 to 2020, she was assistant secretary of state for global public affairs. In 2019, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo delegated to her the authorities of under secretary of state for public diplomacy and public affairs. In this role, she also served on the board of the U.S. Agency for Global Media. That same year, Giuda led the largest restructuring at the State Department in two decades, establishing the Bureau of Global Public Affairs to modernize the agency’s communications and public diplomacy operations.

Earlier in her career, Giuda was senior vice president at Weber Shandwick and deputy press secretary for former Speaker of the House and presidential candidate Newt Gingrich.

She is a nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, a member of Business Executives for National Security (BENS), and a senior advisor to Concordia. In 2022, she was named to the Ad Age 40 Under 40 list and PRovoke Media’s Innovator 25 list. In 2016, she was recognized with the Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business Award by the Asian American Business Development Center.

Giuda holds a master’s degree in political management from George Washington University and a BA in political science from UCLA.
