Mary Beth Sheridan is an award-winning journalist who was based in Latin America for more than a decade, most recently as Mexico bureau chief for The Washington Post.
Sheridan spent 24 years at The Post, reporting on immigration, homeland security and foreign affairs and serving as deputy foreign editor. She has won three Overseas Press Club prizes for her work on Mexico’s economic and security issues, as well as a Maria Moors Cabot Award from Columbia University, the highest honor for journalists covering Latin America. She was a member of three teams at The Post that were Pulitzer Prize finalists.
Before joining The Post in 2001, she was Mexico City bureau chief for The Los Angeles Times and Bogota bureau chief for The Miami Herald. She was also a correspondent for The Associated Press based in Rome. She was a Nieman fellow at Harvard University in 2012-13 and a Knight-Bagehot fellow at Columbia University in 1992-93. She is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass.
