Mark Smith is the Program Manager for the Vehicle Technologies Office’s Technology Integration Program at the US Department of Energy. Technology Integration information and tools provide objective/unbiased data and real-world lessons learned to inform future research needs and support local decision making. Within this role, Smith examines and implements measures that improve transportation efficiency and reduce transportation energy costs in the United States. He oversees a broad technology portfolio that includes includes alternative fuels, electrification, and Energy Efficient Mobility Systems.

Prior to working at the US Department of Energy, Smith was an alternative fuel vehicle consultant at American Honda. In this role, he promoted the use of Honda’s advanced technology vehicles to public and private fleet managers and implemented programs to increase adoption of these vehicles.
