Mariela Isabel Zelada Ochoa is the regional director of the Central America and Caribbean Early Literacy Network (RedLEI). She was dean of the Faculty of Education at the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala. Zelada has a long history leading projects with the United Nations System of Guatemala, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), European Union, and other cooperation agencies supporting the Ministry of Education, the National Youth Council, and others. She has more than 20 years of teaching experience throughout all educational levels, and she has extensive teaching experience, scholarly research, and academic management of programs in national and foreign universities.

Zelada has a degree in education with a master’s degree in measurement, evaluation, research, and curriculum from the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala. She was a Fulbright scholar to study a master’s degree in educational policy studies from the University of Illinois, Chicago.

Zelada Ochoa was an event speaker at the Dialogue.
