María Isabel Castillo Báez has served since 2025 as the ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the United States. She has a solid academic and professional background, with more than twenty years of experience in the diplomatic and legal field. She holds a PhD in law and two master’s degrees from Columbia University: one in international affairs and economic development and the other one in international law and intellectual property. Her academic development also includes studies at Harvard University and the Sorbonne.
Her extensive work experience includes her work as a lawyer in the renowned law firms Castillo y Castillo (Dominican Republic), Ladas & Parry (United States) and González-Calvillo y Forastieri. S.C. (Mexico). In the diplomatic field, she has previously served as the Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the United Mexican States, where she stood out for her efficient representation of the Dominican Republic and her achievements in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
