Luis Guillermo Solís

Luis Guillermo Solís was president of Costa Rica from 2014 until 2018. He is currently the interim Latin American and Caribbean Center Director at Florida International University. Before entering politics, Solis had a long career as an academic and consultant, including as associate professor at the University of Costa Rica, a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Michigan, an advisor to the Oscar Arias administration, director of the Center for Peace and Reconciliation, and program coordinator of the Center for the Administration of Justice at Florida International University, among other positions. 

He is a member of the center-left Citizens’ Action Party (PAC), but before that he was active in the National Liberation Party (PLN), advising Oscar Arias on the Esquipulas Peace Agreement, for which Arias later won a Nobel Peace Prize. 

 

Solís joined the Dialogue as a Member in 2018.
