Kevin O’Reilly, a former member of the U.S. Senior Foreign Service, served as chief of mission at the U.S. Embassy in Managua, concluding his assignment in December 2025.
He served as national coordinator for the 2022 Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles and the 2023 Cities Summit in Denver, and from 2018 to 2022 as deputy assistant secretary of state for South America and Western Hemisphere economic policy.
During his career, O’Reilly held assignments at U.S. embassies in Baghdad, Buenos Aires, Jakarta, Mexico City, Panama City, and Santo Domingo. He also served in the Departments of State, Homeland Security, and Defense; on the National Security Council; and as a congressional fellow in the office of Senator Richard J. Durbin of Illinois.
An Illinois native, he holds a JD and a BA from Loyola University Chicago, as well as MA degrees from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies and the United States Naval War College.
