Juan Pablo Luna is a professor at the School of Government and the Institute of Political Science at the Catholic University in Chile, as well as an associate researcher at the Millennium Institute for the Foundations of Data and the Millennium Institute for the Study of Violence and Democracy. He has been a consultant for the OAS, ECLAC, UNDP, SEGEPRES, IDEA International, and the Frederick Ebert Stiftung and Konrad Adenauer foundations.
His areas of interest include the political effects of inequality on political representation processes, state capacity, and organized crime. His most recent publications are “Latin American Politics and Society: A Comparative Historical Approach” (with Gerardo Munck, 2022) and “Criminal Politics and Botched Development in Latin America” (with Andreas Feldmann, 2023).
Luna holds a PhD and a master’s degree in political science from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, a bachelor’s degree in applied social sciences from UCUDAL, and a diploma in marketing from ORT University, Uruguay.
