Juan Manuel Urtubey is a former governor of the province of Salta in Argentina, a position he held from 2007 to 2019. He also ran for vice president of Argentina alongside Roberto Lavagna in 2019. Before becoming governor, he served for two terms in the Argentine National Congress from 1999 to 2007. During that time, Urtubey was the president of the Bloque Justicialista and president of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs (Comité Constitucional de los Asuntos). He was also a member of the Budget and Finance Committee; Communications and Information Technology Committee; Sports Committee; Justice, Petitions, Powers, and Regulations Committee; Drug Addiction and Narcotrafficking Prevention Committee; and the Welfare and Social Security Committee. Urtubey served as provincial deputy from 1997 to 1999 and secretary of state in the province of Salta from 1995 to 1996. He received his law degree from the University of Buenos Aires.
