Joyce Nessin

Colombia | External Affairs Manager, Cerro Matoso S.A.

Joyce Nessin is the external affairs manager of Cerro Matoso S.A., a mining-industrial company with four decades of operation in Colombia. With more than 15 years of experience in the extractive industry, she is now responsible for planning and executing the company’s engagement with 25 communities (among Indigenous, Afro-descendant and Community Action Boards) in compliance with prior consultation and voluntary social investment agreements. This has fostered strong relationships with the communities based on dialogue and mutual understanding.

In addition, Nessin is responsible for managing corporate reputation and defining Cerro Matoso’s internal and external communications and engagement strategy with different stakeholders. Throughout her career, she has promoted gender equality, and she spearheaded the creation of Cerro Matoso’s Inclusion and Diversity Committee, focused on promoting job recruitment for women and members of the host communities. This work helped to break paradigms and stereotypes in the industry and to create new development opportunities for the local population.

Nessin was an event speaker at the Dialogue.
