Jan-Michael Simon

Jan-Michael Simon is an expert on penal law, criminal politics and international public paw, who serves as the Senior Scientific Investigator and Director of the Latin America Section at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign Criminal and International Law in Freiburg, Germany. Alongside his academic experience, Simon has also: overseen the recovery of funds from frauds to the German Treasury of the Federal Finance Agency of Germany; been a legal analyst in the International Commission Against Impunity in Guatemala (CICIG); been an international investigators in the “Commission for Historical Clarification” (CEH) in Guatemala; led the European Commission mission in matters of security and justice in Guatemala (SEJUST); supported the Secretariat in the negotiation with the Government of Honduras to create the Support Mission Against Corruption and Impunity in Honduras (MACCIH); and, until 2017, was involved in the OAS as Special Analyst Against Impunity and Corruption. 

Simon was an event speaker at the Dialogue.
