Jamie Tronnes is the executive director of the Center for North American Prosperity and Security (CNAPS).
She has over 15 years of program leadership experience in the international affairs, governance, and development sector. She is a leading expert on North American relations and governance, particularly trade and security affairs. Her research and contributions on the USMCA review have been key to the analysts and decision makers across the region, especially in how evolving policies, digital-services and regulatory issues are reshaping the continental partnership.
Prior, Tronnes served as resident country director and chief of party for International Republican Institute (IRI) based in Rabat, Morocco and Beirut, Lebanon before going on to be named deputy regional director for Africa at IRI’s head office based in Washington, DC. She has consulted on democracy promotion programs in Iraq, Jordan, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Bangladesh, Ukraine, and Pakistan and has lived in Doha, Qatar and Jeddah, K.S.A.
Before her work in the international development sector, Tronnes served as special assistant to the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada; as well as special assistant to the Minister of Employment and Social Development Canada; and worked as the public affairs officer for women and youth in the office of the leader of the Opposition in the Canadian Parliament.
She holds a BA in philosophy with a minor in political science from the University of Alberta and an MLitt from the University of St Andrews in terrorism and political violence.
