Jaime Saavedra is currently the global director for World Bank’s Education division. Between 2013 and 2016 he served as minister of education of Peru. He also has held positions at the Inter-American Development Bank, the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, the International Labor Organization, and the National Council for Labor and Employment Promotion of Peru. He was executive director of the Development Analysis Group.

He has also held teaching positions at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, the Universidad del Pacífico de Perú, and the University of Toronto. Before his position as minister of education, he worked for 10 years at the World Bank, serving the areas of Poverty Reduction and Equity, and as interim vice president of the Network for the Reduction of Poverty and Economic Management. He has a PhD in economics from Columbia University and a BA in economics from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.

Saavedra was an event speaker at the Dialogue.
