Iván Chanis Barahona

President, Fundación Iguales

Iván Chanis Barahona is the president and founder of Fundación Iguales in Panama, a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion, respect and observance of human rights. He is an international consultant based in Panama, and was a commissioner in the Commission on Law and Aging at the American Bar Association from 2015 to 2018.

Beyond his legal career, Iván has had an extensive diplomatic career as an academic with his principal studies in the United States but also in Brazil, the United Kingdom, Italy and Spain. He was the political and legal council of the Permanent Mission of Panama to the Organization of American States in Washington DC, Junior Consultant for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the World Food Program (WFP) in the regional office in Latin America and the Caribbean. He is also a professional yogi.

Barahona was an event speaker at the Dialogue.
