Muhammad Habib Dzakwan is a researcher at the Department of International Relations of the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Indonesia. He holds a Master’s degree in international economics and general international relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). His opinion pieces have appeared in various outlets, including The Diplomat, East Asia Forum, ISEAS Fulcrum, China Daily, Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO), the Jakarta Post, and the Strategist (ASPI). Before joining CSIS Indonesia, Dzakwan coordinated activities of the Centre’s Disaster Management Research Unit where he closely worked with Indonesia’s National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and other responsible government agencies for climate change.
Dzakwan’s areas of expertise include critical minerals and emerging technologies, geoeconomics and political economy, ESG (environment, social, and governance) and sustainability, non-traditional security, and Indonesia’s foreign policy.
