Frank Ábrego

Frank Ábrego is the head of the Public Security portfolio of the government of José Raúl Mulino. Ábrego was the first director of the National Border Service (Senafront), a position he held until 2016. Before assuming command of Senafront, he worked in the Metropolitan Directorate of the National Police, but before that he was in the Defense Forces. He entered the force in 1986, a year after graduating from the General Francisco Morazán military school, in Honduras.

He was president of the Binational Border Commission between Panama and Colombia (Combifron) and permanent commissioner of the Republic of Panama for the Regional Security Coordination Mechanism (MCSR) of the Central American Integration System (SICA).

During his police career, which ended in 2016, he was trained in various courses, further training and academic specializations in countries such as China, Israel, Spain, and the United States. Ábrego received the Civic Star Medal of the Police in the rank of Grand Officer of the National Police of Colombia, awarded by the former president of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos.

Ábrego was an event speaker at the Dialogue.
