Felipe Hevia de la Jara is a professor and researcher at CIESAS-Golfo since 2009, and director of the project Independent Measurement of Learning. He is also part of the PAL network. 

Hevia obtained his bachelor’s degree in anthropology from the University of Chile in 1999, his master’s degree in social anthropology from CIESAS-DF in 2003, and his doctorate in anthropology from CIESAS-DF in 2007. In 2008, he did a post-doctoral stay at the Centro de Estudos da Metrópole (CEM)/ Centro Brasileiro de Análise e Planejamento (CEBRAP) in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

He is a member of the National System of Researchers since 2010, and the Mexican Academy of Sciences. He is coordinator of the master’s in social anthropology of CIESAS-Golfo, considered at a consolidated level by the National Program of Postgraduate Quality of Conacyt. He has taught in postgraduate programs in Mexico, Chile and Brazil, and under his direction, several bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral theses have been completed.

Hevia belongs to the Citizen Council of the National Commission for the Continuous Improvement of Education (MejorEdu) and to the Local Technical Secretariat of the Open Government Initiative of Veracruz.

His research focuses on political anthropology and educational research, with emphasis on citizen participation and social auditing policies, poverty alleviation and educational evaluations. He is the author of 90 publications, including 5 books, 5 books in co-authorship, and 26 articles in indexed journals.
