Emma Leonardo Solorzano was a summer 2021 intern for the Migration, Remittances & Development Program. She is currently a Flagler Scholar and a rising sophomore at the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College of Florida Atlantic University majoring in International Studies with an area of focus in Latin America. She has remained active within her Hispanic community partnering with El Sol, neighborhood resource center for migrants. Furthermore, she has worked as an art teacher at a local children’s art studio, Kids Need More Art, for four years. As a native Guatemalan, she hopes to promote sustainable and inclusive development practices to help youth, women, and indigenous groups throughout the region.
