Elisabeth Pramendorfer is a Senior Human Rights Officer at the Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect (R2P), representing the Centre before the Human Rights Council (HRC) and other Geneva-based human rights mechanisms in Geneva, Switzerland.
In her role, she focuses on building better linkages between the work of the HRC and the implementation of R2P, including through the Centre’s engagement with the Universal Periodic Review, Special Procedures, and country-specific advocacy before the HRC. She conducts research and advocates for populations at risk of atrocity crimes in Venezuela and Burundi. Elisabeth also leads the Global Centre’s work of the Group of Friends of R2P in Geneva, an informal intergovernmental platform for Permanent Missions to the UN in both New York and Geneva, which consists of 53 cross-regional member states.
She holds an LLM in International Humanitarian Law from the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, a MA in Humanitarian Action from Sciences Po, Paris and a BA in Development Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and King’s College London.
