Diego Rivera Rivota

Diego Rivera Rivota is a research associate at Columbia University’s Center on Global Energy Policy (CGEP). His work focuses on energy policy in Latin America, natural gas and LNG markets in the developing world, critical minerals and the geopolitical implications of the energy transition.

Prior to joining CGEP, Rivera was a visiting researcher at the Asia Pacific Energy Research Centre (APERC) based in Japan. In previous roles, Rivera worked at the Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE), the Permanent Mission of Mexico to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and Mexico’s Office of the President.

Rivera holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) and master’s in public policy with a specialization in energy and the former Soviet Union region from Sciences Po Paris. Rivera speaks Spanish, English, French, Russian, and Portuguese.

Rivera was an event speaker at the Dialogue.
